“One’s perception of his or her own reflection is directly related to what he or she will become. Such a relationship with one’s reflection is also directly related to his or her perception of the community in which he or she lives. Ultimately, every community is a direct reflection of how that community perceives itself.”
Role Remodel is a non profit organization built upon this principal. The problems of many communities are rooted in poor self image and a volatile relationship with it‘s reflection….a reflection that has become distorted and smeared. Nothing will change until such communities begin to question it‘s perceptions as it pertains to it‘s ideals, shadow beliefs, leaders, idols, standards of beauty and ultimately how it defines itself. A community can never expect to obtain something different by doing what it has always done. Role Remodel seeks to undo distorted and smeared reflections for the purpose of creating a better world. Role Remodel believes that there are solutions that can prove effective and seeks to implement programs that involve creative thinking, self expression, cultural awareness, networking, esteem development and constructive dialogue accompanied by action. The nation is bombarded by staggering statistics involving the well being of our youth. As one statistic takes center stage, another seems to be looming just as a community has come to grips with a current given or previous issue. As parents and/or caregivers try to implement direction to young adults, they are often in direct competition with the culture of the day that can often praise celebrity and popularity by any means necessary: female degradation, self deprecating fads, the glamorization of drugs and violence, fast money and today’s overwhelmingly dangerous obsession with being thin.
Role Remodel seeks to create programs that encourage our youth to not only dream for themselves but for each other.
