"Fashion is a great tool to express personal style. In the positive, the two work together in creating a great external expression of the inner-self. In the negative, it becomes the litmus test filled with judgment, social compliance, classism and prejudice. Nevertheless, be it positive or negative, the perception of image is inevitable in a world of superficial measure. From a magazine cover to a “face of God”, we are bombarded by images that mold our perceptions. If repeated consistently, overtime such images and the adjectives that accompany them become a reference to and/or synonymous with the words upon our lips as they relate to beauty, the ugly, the significant, the good and the evil. But contrary to popular belief, image is not everything. Image can be nothing more than what it is. Image is image. Subjective and inconsistent, it presents itself in a plethora of illusions and those illusions are a matter of perception built upon the various relationships that each of us has with ourselves. Be inspired, borrow the concepts, sample the products and consider the advice of the style gurus but never let fashion or the fleeting standards of others define you. There is nothing more beautiful, current, fashionable, “in”, powerful or timeless than the authentic self. The authentic self never goes out of style."
